Attending the
Home School
The Ronald Mc Donald House Home School is a contracted
alternative school established through the Minneapolis
Public School System. Children in grades K –
12 whose families meet the admission requirements
to stay at the Ronald McDonald House are eligible
to attend the Home School. The coursework at the Home
School supports and enhances work being done by students
in their home schools. The Home School takes responsibility
in assuring that enrolled children not only maintain
their current academic levels, but also show academic
progression. In order to insure this, attendance at
school is very important. The Ronald McDonald House
Home School is required to report all absences and
progress to the student’s home school.
Attendance Policy
During school hours, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, students
are the responsibility of the teacher and therefore
need to remain under the supervision of the teacher.
Students are expected to be in class daily and to
be on time. The teacher must be informed of absences
by written note or conversation with a parent. Students
may be excused for lunch if they will be in the company
of their parent.
Procedure for Absences
On the morning of the absence, please notify the teacher
by note or phone before school starts at 9 am, if
possible. Parents who wish to eat lunch with their
child should come to the school to pick up their child.
If at any time, the teacher is concerned about the
number of absences, both excused and unexcused, a
parent-teacher conference will be arranged.
How Do I Enroll
My Child?
Simply fill out an RMH
Application Form and the Minneapolis
Schools Student Registration Form. Or
contact any staff person at the Ronald McDonald House
and they will help you get the appropriate forms.
Please return the completed forms to a staff person.
The teacher, Cindy Britain, will contact your child’s
home school to set up an academic plan for your child
and Mrs. Britain will notify you of when your child
can begin at the Home School.
